Couple of quick things tonight:
- If it has been longer than 6 months since you’ve changed the batteries in your smoke alarms, do it now. I just did mine. This is a simple thing you can do to keep your family safe. Set your calendar to remind you in 4 months. Do this EVEN if you have powered smoke alarms. No Fire Chief will disagree with me on this.
- Check your doors and windows; every night – always. It never fails, I see at least a few garage doors open now and then on my morning run.
- Fraud Alert your credit reports of everyone over 18 in your family. If you are not using a Credit monitoring service on your credit; place an initial 90 day fraud on yours and your wife’s credit reports; and then set your calendar to re do it again in 90 days. If you are not planning to buy a house, car or cell phone, or other loan in the next 90 days – there is no reason NOT to have a Fraud alert. Opening continuous Fraud alerts with one of bureaus will alert the others. This small step makes in just a littler harder for fraudsters to open accounts in your name, maybe if they are lazy hackers, they just pass your name up and go to the next name on their list of two million.
Be Safe!! Be Secure!
